Surge Analysis
Data Requirements
Typically, the information required to carry out a surge analysis is as follows:
- The maximum and minimum pump suction and switching levels.
- Pump characteristic curves and operating philosophy (duty/assist/standby).
- Pumping station pipework layout drawings.
- Longitudinal section of the pumping main, or plan with contours.
- Pipe diameter, material and wall thickness or classification.
- Details of the discharge arrangement (free exit/bellmouth/submerged).
