Network Analysis
Data Requirements
Typically, the information required to carry out a network surge analysis is as follows:
- Schematic layout of the distribution network with node numbers.
- Elevations at all nodes and longitudinal sections of significant trunk mains.
- Pipe diameters, materials and roughness values, where known.
- Flows and nodal pressures for maximum and minimum demand conditions.
- Pump characteristic curves and operating philosophy (duty/assist/standby).
- The maximum and minimum pump suction and switching levels, or available suction pressures.
- Pumping station pipework layout drawings.
- Entry and exit conditions for each reservoir on the network with top and bottom water levels.
If precise data is not readily available we can indicate its significance to the results of the study, or agree the values to be adopted.
