Tanker Loading Systems
Data Requirements

The following data is required in order to undertake a detailed surge analysis of a tanker loading or unloading system. The data which is relatively acceptable to assume and easy for Hydraulic Analysis Ltd to assume has been marked with an asterisk (*).

Introduction

Hydraulic Analysis Ltd needs the information used to design a system using steady state techniques, plus additional information which is not necessarily available. We are very used to obtaining this latter information and hence can frequently help to obtain it from our databases or from the manufacturers.

Generally the following is needed:

Drawings

Pipework

Pumps

Control Valves

Isolation Valves

We have a large database of isolation valve types, hence the minimum information needed is:

Air Valves/Vacuum Breakers

If any automatic air valves are incorporated on the system (usually on high points), the following is required.

Surge Relief Valves

Surge relief valves tend to need a lot of manufacturer specific data and hence we keep a large database of information. Generally only the following is needed:

Spring Loaded Relief Valves

These standard relief valves need:

Duty Flowrates and Pressures

The design duty flowrates and the pressures that are expected to be used throughout the system (this may be available from the UFD's).

Flow/Pressure Sensors

Proposed Operation of the System

In order to obtain a clear understanding of the system operation and to be able to determine the worst case scenario's, a description / clarification of the mode of operation of the system is required. For example:

Fluid Properties

Details of the fluid to be loaded including
